James Michael Lavender Jr.
A native Athenian, Mike attended local schools, then the University of Georgia. He obtained an undergraduate degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Mike was a part of the inaugural graduating class of the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Leadership Academy.
Mike is a popular speaker on subjects such as Legislation, Wills and Trusts, Issues of Business Law and issues facing Non-profits and Real Estate. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Paralegal Program at Athens Area Technical College.
Besides teaching Sunday School at Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Mike is a member of Athens Rotary, Athens Area Association of Realtors, Christian Legal Society, the Federalist Society and the American Bar Association, serving on the Religious Organizations Sub-Committee, the Committee on Mortgage Fraud Prevention of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and the Board of Directors for the East Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross.
